What Online Learning Platform Should I Use?
I'm not actually going to be your teacher. Think of me as a counselor who will help you pick your classes.
There are a lot of platforms out there that promise to teach you how to code. When picking platforms to recommend, I had high standards...
My Criteria:
I want to recommend learning platforms that...
- That I use myself.
- Have classes geared to beginners, mid-level, and seasoned pro's.
- Have clearly defined learning tracks for the skills that are most in-demand.
- Are affordable on any budget.
My First Pick: PluralSight
Pluralsight is the premier online learning platform for serious developers. Just about every company I've worked for offers a Pluralsight membership for their employees.
Why is Plursight my top choice? Three reasons:
- Pluralsight gives you access to world-class leaders in this industry. Some of the teachers even helped to create the very tools they are teaching.
- This is an online learning platform that was created by developers for developers. The only thing it teaches is software development, and it's the undisputed king.
- For the low cost of $38/month, you have access to every class in their extensive library.
Another Great Option: Udemy
You can learn anything at Udemy. Literally. Want a class on gardening? How about photography? Or maybe cooking? Udemy has it all. Especially software development.
On Pluralsight you pay a small monthly fee and then all classes are included. With Udemy, you pay per class.
Because literally anyone can post a course on Udemy, sometimes finding a great course can be hard. But that's okay, because I've already vetted some for you.
As a disclaimer, I'm an affiliate of both Pluralsight and Udemy. If you click on a link here and then register at either, I may earn a small commission. But this will not impact the price you pay.
